Why a register
A fund without a register is a savings account without a statement.
Producing states are setting money aside for decommissioning before the assets are counted. Norway publishes FactPages. The UK has the NSTA Tracker. Most have neither.
Ghana legislated its decommissioning fund in 2024, ahead of the work it will pay for. Where a register runs, and which standards it answers to, follow the market it serves.
